JK's JY disc filter is a cartridge type filter made up of a column of compressed individual discs. Intersections formed by grooved edges on the surface of these discs intercept solid particles contained in the water. The JY system can provide constant output even during the backwash stage ensuring maximum production and efficiency.

5. Working principle
The disc filter adopts Kangjie Zhichen's patented technology (China Patent No. 2014202588494) which is dedicated to seawater desalination. The core component of disc filter is the 3" filter unit (China Patent No. 201020102465.5, 201020047036.2, 201020102471.0, 201320374456.5, 201330317000.0). The filter element consists of a group of polypropylene (PP) plastic discs with grooves. Filtration grade is 50 μm.
The disc filter works automatically and continuously. During filtration, the discs are compressed by means of feed water pressure and diaphragm, forcing the water to pass through the grooved disc surface, thus trapping the particles. The backwash process is activated automatically by a pre-set time or differential pressure. Each filter unit is backwashed sequentially, in the meantime the other filter units continue to supply filtered water. When a disc filter unit enters into backwash mode, its inlet valve is closed, its drain valve is opened, the filtered water of the other filter units goes into this filter unit in opposite direction to backwash this filter unit. The typical backwash time takes only 30 seconds. Filtration mode and backwash mode switches automatically to ensure continuous filtered water supply. Backwash water consumption is less than 0.5% of total filtered water.
